Tyreek Hill, the great player for the Dolphins, was stopped for a traffic violation, and one of the policemen involved was Manuel Batista, a sixth-year member of the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Just a few hours before the Dolphins’ season opener versus the Jaguars, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, Tyreek was taken into custody by Miami Police Department officials.
The former Chiefs wide receiver was manhandled and handcuffed by police during the contentious encounter, which infuriated fans on social media.
When Miami Police revealed body cam footage of their meeting with Tyreek Hill, the criticism only grew.
According to a screengrab, several social media users were also able to identify Manuel Batista, one of the implicated officers, from the incident’s footage.
The Miami-Dade Police Department declared later on Sunday that an officer had been placed on administrative leave as a result of the event. If that was Officer Batista, it’s unclear.
