We’ll install 50,00 CCTV cameras across the country to help deal with crime- Bawumia

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that he will install about 50,000 CCTV cameras across the country to help combat crime when voted into power.

During his campaign tour in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, he shared his experience of how he discovered that a driver’s mate was killed in Wa, in the Upper West Region; adding that there were also multiple killings happening in the region.

According to him, he later found out that there was no CCTV fixed in that part of the region especially where the crimes were being committed.

“So I called the National Security and asked them what it will take for Ghana to have CCTV on all the streets in all district capitals and all the regional capitals so we can see any crime taking place and have a clue of how crimes are committed and by who. And they said we’ll need 50,000 cameras so we are going to get 50,000 CCTV Cameras across the country”, he promised.

He stated that the CCTV cameras will help the police investigate crimes faster and arrest wrongdoers, emphasizing that he will provide 50,000 CCTV to help deal with crimes.
