Transition process moves forward with subcommittee reports, says Joint team

The Transition Team overseeing the handover of government operations met on Friday (27 December), at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The purpose of the meeting was to receive updates from various subcommittees tasked with ensuring a smooth transfer of power between the outgoing and incoming administrations.

In a statement from the team’s spokespersons, Fatimatu Abubakar and Felix Kwakye Ofosu, all the subcommittees presented their reports except for the Social Sector Sub-Committee, which failed to submit its report.

The statement did not provide any reasons for this lapse.

“At the 3rd Transition Team meeting held today, 27th December 2024, all the sub-committees, with the exception of the Social Sector, presented their reports. The reports were generally satisfactory, with a few requests made for additional information on specific issues,” the statement said.

The reports, which covered various governance sectors, were largely deemed satisfactory.

However, the Transition Team noted that additional details were needed to clarify some specific matters raised during the meeting.

To maintain the progress of the transition process, the team’s Co-Chairs instructed the subcommittees and relevant stakeholders to continue their work and ensure effective coordination.

The Transition Team was inaugurated on 11 December, following a meeting between President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and President-elect John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House.

This team has since been working to facilitate a seamless transfer of power ahead of the official swearing-in of the new government.

Below is the full statement issued by the Transition Team.
