THEPLAT4ORM CIC, a Bradford-based organisation, has held its maiden business entrepreneurial event, dubbed; “The Igniting Dreams Business Exhibition and Awards Ceremony 2024.”

The company intends to make the event an annual global business summit, to empower young ladies and women, utilising their skills to provide extra income for themselves and those around them.

The event was targeted to attract women and young ladies with a keen interest in business start-ups and looking to progress their entrepreneurial ideas into fruitful ventures.

It was also open to young ladies with varying experiences in budding ventures who were looking to build stronger business acumen, harness potential local partnerships, and explore new market opportunities.

The Igniting Dreams event seeks to create a platform to educate women on business growth, help them find investment opportunities, signpost additional support from other organisations, create networking opportunities to meet other entrepreneurs, promote financial literacy and critical thinking, help women in business planning, cash flow, forecasting and developing marketing plans.

Additionally, the initiative is to empower women in domestic abuse relationships who struggle to meet ends independently to translate their soft and hard skills into dream-defining realities through the mentorship of seasoned and accomplished women entrepreneurs.

Exhibitioners in attendance had stalls to promote their business and services to the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Bev Mullaney, and other attendees.

The first session of the event focused on the exhibition of foods and services in stalls from exhibitioners such as creations by Viva, Shipley Sewing School, Pazito Mart, T&A Touch, among others.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Bev Mullaney, led the exhibition train and went around the stalls to engage the business minds.

The second part was where culture met business. The Ghanaian chief, HRH Nana Odeniho Odoi Ahwireng II, the Twafohene of Akuapem Traditional Area (in Ghana) and his wife, Oheneyere Akua Asantewaa Kyeremateng (HRH Queen Nana Afua Apiatewa III), the Attakuma Atta Henmaa of Gomoa Assin and N’guabasun Hemaa of Gomoa Assin Traditional Council in Ghana graced the event to present awards to deserving businesses and personalities for their remarkable achievements.

The list of all the awardees included Saliha Sadiq (Inspirational Woman of the Year), Vanessa Boateng Ukoro (Entrepreneur of the Year Award), Yam Spice (Retailer of the Year Award), Community Champion, WomenZone, Pazito Mart (Start-up of the Year Award), Shipley Fabrics Sewing School (Creative Industry Excellence Award) and DEVIV (Best Hairdressing Firm Award).

The final part of the event consisted of presentations from designated speakers such as Naz Shah, former MP for Bradford West, Councillor Vanessa Boateng-Ukuro, Knowsley Liverpool Council, Councillor Sabiya Khan Wibsey, Bradford Council, Saliha Sadiq, and Mental Health Director at the Milan Centre, Bradford.

Others were Sharon Jandu OBE, Founder of Yorkshire Asian Business Association (YABA)Leeds, Irene Eribo-Ani, CEO of E.B.O.NY. Ambassadors UK, Agnes Wiafe, CEO of Pazito Mart, Manchester, Humma Nizami, Executive Director REN Bradford. They all shared their tailored journeys and building blocks to their accomplishments.

History was made on 22 June 2024 in Bradford City when business met culture, and women from different backgrounds came together to network, educate, inspire, and empower each other. The next Igniting Dreams business exhibition is scheduled for 2025.
