The vice-president and presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the road network across the country.
Bawumia said the Sunyani to Wa road will be asphalted to make transportation easy.
The presidential candidate made this assurance when he was addressing party faithful and constituents at Tuna in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency of the Savannah Region on Sunday 21 July 2024, as part of his “Bold Solutions” constituency tour of the region.
“We are going to work on this road before the election. We are doing it on an asphalt road God willing from Sunyani to Wa,” Bawumia said.
He indicated that the NPP government has done so much for Ghanaians and they should vote for him to become the next president and his government will do more.
Boosting agriculture
Bawumia mentioned that his government will support farmers, which will go a long way towards tackling the issue of food insecurity in the country.
“We will give tractors to every district and provide mechanisation centres. We will also make loans available to farmers,” Bawumia stated.
Digital access to Ghanaians
As part of efforts to move into the digital space, the vice-president noted that he will make mobile phones affordable to allow every Ghanaian access to a smartphone.
“We will make access to mobile phones affordable and will work with mobile phone companies to allow people to buy phones on credit while making payments every month,” he added.
“We need everybody to have a smart device. We will make it easy for people to acquire mobile phones.”
He indicated that the people of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency since 1992 have been voting for the opposition NDC and they [NDC] have done nothing for them, so it is time for them to change their voting pattern to vote for the NPP and their parliamentary candidate to bring them more development.
Bawumia outlined some of the social interventions that the NPP government initiated, including the flagship programme Free Senior High School, the introduction of the Ghana Card, restoring teacher and nursing training allowances, and the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Bawumia is expected to continue his campaign tour in the Upper West Region.
