Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah told to resign from GFA Executive Council role - Report

Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah has reportedly been told to resign from his role as an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).The former Ghana coach was voted into the Executive Council when he was enlisted as part of the Asante Kotoko IMC before he was appointed Sudan coach.Ghana will be facing Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. This is seen as conflict of interest because Black Stars would be discussed during Executive Council meetings.Despite the growing calls for his resignation, Appiah has refused to step down, according to journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, who reported on August 14, 2024.During a recent Executive Council meeting, Appiah reportedly excused himself when discussions about the Black Stars, Ghana’s national team, began.Abdulai Nabila added that if Appiah resigns, Michael Bogdan Osekere, the Chief of Staff of Kurt Okraku, could be a potential successor on the Executive Council.
