Sammy Kuffour inspired me to do more after my career - Asamoah Gyan reveals

Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has shared that his motivation to plan for life after football came from his teammate, Samuel Osei Kuffour.Gyan, who retired from professional football in June 2023, highlighted the importance of preparing for life beyond the sport during his appearance at the Afro Sport Summit.Gyan reflected on how Kuffour consistently encouraged his teammates to think ahead and prepare for their post-football careers.“I drew my inspiration from Sammy Osei Kuffour; he always encouraged and reminded us during playing days to get something done before our time as footballers came to an end,” Gyan mentioned.The former Sunderland striker urged young footballers to begin considering their future careers early, ensuring they have a solid foundation for life after football.Gyan, who is still the all-time leading goal scorer for Ghana with 51 goals and Africa's top World Cup scorer, emphasized the need for athletes to be proactive about their future.Asamoah Gyan and Samuel Osei Kuffour played together during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
