Samia Nkrumah explains why she sever ties with her father’s CPP

Former Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party(CPP), Samia Nkrumah has revealed why she cut ties with her father’s party to become an Independent Candidate for the 2024 polls.

Speaking to the media, Samia Nkrumah disclosed that she is running as an Independent Candidate to re-enter Parliament in the Jomoro constituency of the Western Region.

According to her, standing as an Independent Candidate means choosing Ghana first and fighting partisanship.

“I don’t want us to be extremely partisan. I want us to build consensus. I am looking for a way forward in the future. I don’t believe the future lies in trench with one party. So how can I do something when am aspiring for something good for Ghana? Can we go beyond party politics”. She disclosed.

Samia Nkrumah also mentioned that although her father, the legend Kwame Nkrumah is no more, there are a lot of people who still love him in every part of the country and political parties.

According to her, the values and principles of Kwame Nkrumah has gone beyond political parties so its unnecessary to box oneself in political parties

“Ghana needs to unite but how can we do that if people do not go beyond the system? The two-party system is not working, to be honest”. She noted.
