The Electoral Commission(EC) has informed the general public that the process of producing the final voters’ register is in its early stages.
They have therefore assured the people of Ghana of working to ensure that they produce a robust voters’ register.
A statement from the commission indicated that the commission is mindful that a credible voters’ register is the bedrock of every election and will not do anything to jeopardize the country’s peace.
The commission said its doors are opened to the National Democratic Congress for further engagement to ensure that things are done right.
Background
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, September 17, embarked on a nationwide demonstration to register their displeasure about the current voters’ register.
The demonstrators nationwide took petitions to regional offices of the commission to drum home their demand for a forensic audit of the voter roll.
