Problem-ridden Free SHS was rushed by Akufo-Addo – Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe

Ghanaian football administrator and politician, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has berated President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for rushing in implementing the Free Senior High School(SHS) policy.

According to Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, the Free Senior High policy has a lot of shortcomings primarily because of the way the implementation was rushed by the current New Patriotic Party(NPP) government.

During a one-on-one interview with Bola Ray, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe stated that the Free Senior High School policy introduced by Kwame Nkrumah stated in the constitution that it should be done progressively and not in the current form.

“Joy TV came out with a report about the Free Senior High School and it was abysmal.  The problems are numerous. Feeding problems, clothing problems, etc. Akufo-Addo rushed the implementation of Free Senior High School. why do you think Kwame Nkrumah who brought the constitution said it must be done progressively? Nkrumah built a lot of schools; technical schools and universities but he knew the people were plenty to afford this.

Some people can afford to look after their children well. True, a lot of people benefited from the policy but ask yourself which kind of product will come out? Look at the number of people who are done attending this FSHS  and are on the streets doing nothing?”, he bemoaned.
