Sports Journalist of the the Year, Bright Kankam Boadu has reminded the Vice President of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and Sports Minister-Designate, Kofi Adams, of the need to pay the Amputee Football team their bonuses.
He made this plea when he received his award for Sports Journalist of the Year at the SWAG Awards held in Accra on January 24, 2025.
He said, “Since I have Her Excellency the Vice President here, this is a campaign I’ve been waging, and luckily for me, I also have the sports minister-designate. The amputee team won the African Cup of Nations, and up till now, their bonuses haven’t been paid.
I always say that the strength of any nation is determined by how we treat the vulnerable in society. It has even moved to the extent that one has even lost his life, the team manager. Please let’s try giving them what is due them and even showing courage in the face of adversity,” he said.
Bright Kankam Boadu has been crowned the best sports journalist in Ghana by the Sports Writers Association.
Congratulations to Bright Kankam Boadu, who has been named as the SWAG Sports Journalist of the Year.
After receiving his award, he made a plea on behalf of the amputee team, who have unpaid bonuses and lost one of their members to the Vice President and Sports Minister… pic.twitter.com/iSJmzwO0dL— #3Sports (@3SportsGh) January 24, 2025
