Over 150 Nkwanta South youth receive skills training

Sheriffa Sekyere Tijani, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for Nkwanta South in the Oti Region, joined forces with the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) to provide vital skills training and start-up kits to over 150 local youth.

This initiative, backed by the GEA, the Mastercard Foundation, and BizBox, aims to foster economic growth and self-employment within the municipality.

The programme trained young individuals in various trades, including fashion design and hairdressing, equipping them with essential skills for the job market.

Sheriffa, who also serves as the Managing Director of State Housing, emphasised the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and job creation during her conversation with Asaase News.

She also urged participants to remain dedicated to their training, stressing the importance of hard work and passion.

The Nkwanta South parliamentary candidate also advised participants to make good use of the equipment provided, reinforcing her message of commitment to their future.

As the December elections approach, Sheriffa called on the youth to support her and the NPP, promising that further training and support will follow if they secure her a seat in Parliament.

“More of these trainings and supports will come to the municipality through me in the Parliament under the leadership of our incoming president, Dr. [Mahamudu] Bawumia, if we vote him into power massively,” she assured.

Felix Ade, NPP’s Oti Regional Organiser, echoed her sentiments, encouraging the youth to seize government initiatives.

He asserted that only the NPP can deliver substantial job opportunities and is steadfast in its commitment to vocational and technical training.

The beneficiaries, thrilled with their newfound opportunities, pledged their support for both Sheriffa and the NPP in the upcoming elections.

Many expressed gratitude for the training and called for continued support for youth initiatives.

Each trainee received essential equipment, including hairdryers, gas cylinders, and sewing machines, to launch their careers successfully.

As the Nkwanta South municipality looks towards a brighter economic future, the collaborative effort between the GEA and Sheriffa Tijani aims to make a lasting impact on the local youth.
