The New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in the Wa Central constituency of the Upper West Region have heaped praise on their parliamentary candidate, Humu Awudu, for spearheading initiatives that have reshaped lives and communities in the area.
In a meeting with party supporters, the executives highlighted Awudu’s remarkable achievements, from securing jobs for young people to providing scholarships for students in critical disciplines such as medicine and engineering.
Her efforts, they said, have earned her widespread admiration and positioned the NPP for an unprecedented victory in the 2024 elections.
Constituency chairman Osman Hamid expressed confidence that the long-elusive Wa Central parliamentary seat is now within reach.
“It is now time to achieve our long-time dream of winning the Wa Central seat. The people have decided to send Hajia Humu to parliament,” he declared.
Hamid also pointed to the constituency’s growing appreciation for President Nana Akufo-Addo’s policies and the leadership of NPP flagbearer Mahamudu Bawumia, which he believes will further galvanise support.
Assistant constituency secretary Adams Mahmoud emphasised that unity within the NPP has strengthened their campaign efforts, with Awudu’s development initiatives leaving an indelible mark across the constituency.
“There is unity in the party, and we are poised for victory. In every electoral area, you can see testimonies of Hajia Humu’s work and Dr. Bawumia’s influence,” Mahmoud said.
“She has facilitated employment in sectors like the police service and ensured that scholarships reached deserving students in the Upper West Region.”
He added that Awudu’s interventions, such as constructing boreholes and school infrastructure, have directly addressed pressing community needs; achievements he claims outshine those of the current MP Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo.
“Not even the current MP can boast of these achievements, which clearly shows that he has lost touch with the people,” Mahmoud remarked.
Constituency treasurer Abdulai Kpegla Issah lauded Awudu’s unwavering commitment to education, vowing that her leadership would continue to prioritise scholarships for students in critical fields.
The constituency executives believe Awudu’s track record has generated significant goodwill among constituents, paving the way for the NPP to secure both parliamentary and presidential votes in the 2024 elections.
