Some 25 members of the NDC caucus in Parliament are seated on the majority side of Parliament ahead of today’s sitting.
Parliament sits today after their sitting was adjourned indefinitely by the Speaker of Parliament.
While away from Parliament, the Speaker of Parliament sought to set aside the ruling of the Supreme Court, which granted the majority leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin, a stay of execution on a ruling declaring four seats vacant in Parliament.
The case of the Speaker was dismissed by the Chief Justice and her panel.
However, the Members of Parliament on the National Democratic Congress insist they are on the majority side of the house and will not move to the minority side of the house.
Ketu North MP, James Klutse Avedzi who spoke to Citi News, said they are in the majority with 136 MPs against 135 of the New Patriotic Party.
According to him, the Supreme Court cannot veer into the work of the legislature, indicating that the Speaker did not rule on the matter but rather communicated to the house the decision by the Members of Parliament to vacate their seats.
“We are still the majority per the numbers. 136 and NPP is Minority is 135 and that position to us still holds in Parliament today. I’m sure you listened to what the Speaker said in his presser that both the Judiciary and the Executive have sinned against the constitution and we have to forgive them. We are checks and balances on each other, the Supreme court cannot veer int what Parliament is doing,” he said.
