NAPO was selected based on his competencies and not his region – Nana B

National Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye has dispelled claims that Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh was selected because he is from the Ashanti Region which is the NPP’s stronghold.

According to him, the running mate of the NPP was selected based on his wealth of experience in the political space and the competencies he brings to the New Patriotic Party ticket for the 2024 election.

“We needed someone who we could assign a responsibility to and go and sleep. We needed someone that can communicate our message properly because he has a better understanding of the political party,” he said.

“We didn’t just settle on him because he is from the Ashanti Region but rather because he can mobilize the grassroots. We looked at someone who had been MP in opposition and MP when we were in power. Someone who is resourceful enough and when I say resourceful not a rich person but someone who is able to pull resources and someone who likes giving,” he said.

To him, these are competencies NAPO has that made him stand out of the lot who were vying for the position.
