Leading retail chain Melcom Ltd. has categorically denied claims that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a prominent lawyer and politician, holds majority shares in the company.
In a public notice released on Monday (30 December), the management of Melcom clarified that the company remains privately owned and has no external shareholders.
“Melcom Ltd. remains privately owned, with no external shareholders. We kindly urge the public to disregard any rumors or speculations about changes in ownership,” the statement read.
The denial comes in response to widespread reports and social media speculations suggesting that Mr Otchere-Darko had acquired a significant stake in the retail giant.
Melcom’s management assured its customers and stakeholders that the company’s ownership structure has not changed, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and service delivery.
