McDan Aviation, a subsidiary of the McDan Group of Companies, has expressed its disappointment over the Ghana Airport Company Limited’s (GACL) decision to shut down its private terminal.
The closure, which occurred on Monday (30 December), has raised concerns, particularly as the company claims the underlying issues are under active discussions.
In a press statement the CEO of McDan Group Kwaku Ampromfi clarified that while it acknowledges financial obligations regarding the use of its Fixed Base Operator (FBO) terminal, it does not owe the GACL the reported $3 million.
The company highlighted significant payments made previously, including a recent installment last week, with plans to resume payments in January 2025.
The statement also revealed an ongoing legal dispute involving a parcel of land acquired from GACL on Spintex Road.
According to McDan Aviation, a third party has raised litigation issues that have resulted in court proceedings. The company stated that payments related to this matter have been withheld pending the resolution of the court case, a situation GACL is reportedly aware of.
Describing GACL’s actions as regrettable, McDan Aviation stressed the interconnected nature of the issues at hand and reiterated its commitment to constructive dialogue for a favourable resolution.
