The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced its leadership lineup for Ghana’s upcoming Parliament, detailing key appointments within its caucus.
Asaase News can confirm that Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who previously served as Majority Leader, will now step into the role of Minority Leader. Meanwhile, Patricia Appiagyei, the Member of Parliament for Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, has been appointed as the Deputy Minority Leader.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, will retain his position as Minority Chief Whip. Other leadership appointments include Habib Iddrisu as the 1st Deputy Minority Whip and Davis Opoku Ansah (OPK) as the 2nd Deputy Whip.
Davis Ansah Opoku is the sole new addition to the leadership team, filling the role of 2nd Deputy Whip after Alex Tetteh, the outgoing deputy, lost his seat in the recent election.
The NPP’s National Council is expected to formally communicate the confirmed leadership structure soon.
With the 8th Parliament set to dissolve on Friday, January 3, 2025, the NPP leadership will play a crucial role as the 9th Parliament is inaugurated, followed by the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect John Mahama on 7 January.
