Former President of Ghana and flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has expressed his mistrust for the system in Ghana.
He is confident nothing will happen to the perpetrators of the heinous crime of shooting at people during the clash between the NDC and NPP supporters on Mamobi in Accra.
John Dramani Mahama noted that similar incidents have happened in the past and people who were engaged in them were not punished, hence he does not believe anything will happen with this one.
“I saw one clear picture of one holding his pistol. Just watch; nothing will happen to them, and as long as nothing happens to them, it will continue. That is why often I say that the moral voice of society must be heard and the moral voice of society resides in chiefs and religious leaders, civil society organizations.
It is not that these people are not known; the society knows these people who fired those shots and injured those people. But again, like Ayawaso West Wugon, even if a commission is set up and says these people should be dealt with government won’t deal with them and as long as government doesn’t deal with them, others will be emboldened to do the same thing.
