The general manager of DSTV Cote d’Ivoire, Alfred Kwasi Nsiah-Sako has described his mother as the inspiration behind his success in life.
Nsiah-Salo who was born physically challenged said he had wanted to offer science at Accra Academy but was offered a different course due to his disability.
According to him, that really affected his grades and his motivation to pursue university education.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (18 July), Nsiah-Sako said a conversation with his mum after the failure in his final exams became his turning point in life.
“… In the course of the period, because I wasn’t happy with my course at Accra Academy, I didn’t do well at all. I didn’t even have the confidence to apply to the university.”
“But something changed along the way when the results came, I showed it to my mum, and I always say my mum has been my source of inspiration. She looked at the result and ignored me. The following morning, she woke me up and asked how I wanted to cope in life if I didn’t have an education. I wanted to give you two scenarios.”
“First, picture yourself standing at a construction site watching people loading cement and blocks for construction to begin and the second scenario is seeing a forklift lifting all these items to the construction site, do you prefer to do the laborious one, or the one pushing the button? Those words motivated me to change my mind,” Nsiah-Sako said.
