Ghanaian musician Kurl Songx has opened up about his past mistakes and their consequences in an interview on Hitz FM monitored by MyNewsGH.com, expressing genuine remorse for how his actions have affected his relationships within the music industry.
Kurl Songx acknowledged that some of his past behaviours may have contributed to challenges in his career, leading him to reflect on the importance of maintaining good relationships with his peers.
In a heartfelt admission, Kurl revealed that he has actively sought to make amends with individuals he has wronged. “I’ve reached out to some of the people I’ve offended,” he stated, emphasizing the significance of reconciliation.
For those whom he cannot contact directly, Kurl has taken the initiative to use public platforms, such as radio and television interviews, to convey his apologies. This approach reflects his understanding of the importance of accountability and humility in an industry that thrives on collaboration and mutual respect.
Among those he specifically mentioned were Kwaku Osei Koranteng Asiedu, known in the industry as KOKA, and music producer Kaywa. His willingness to apologize publicly indicates a desire to mend fences and move forward positively.
Kurl’s acknowledgement of his past mistakes also serves as a reminder of the pressures and complexities artists face in the public eye.
The conversation took a notable turn when the host, Doreen Avio, probed Kurl about the controversy surrounding his hit song “Jennifer Lomotey,” which sparked significant backlash from the Krobo ethnic group.
Reflecting on the situation, Kurl expressed surprise at the reaction to Sarkodie’s verse in the song. He explained that he was unaware of the specific direction Sarkodie would take when contributing his part. “I had no idea Sarkodie was coming up with such a delivery on my song,” he admitted.
Kurl Songx attempted to clarify the intent behind the song, emphasizing that it was never meant to demean or offend Krobo women, despite the interpretation that emerged.
He explained that many people misconstrued the overall message of the track, underscoring the complexities of lyrical interpretation and cultural sensitivities in music.
