The Paramount Chief of Kumawu, Barima Sarpong Tweneboa Kodua, has commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP), President Nana Akufo-Addo, and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for their remarkable contributions to education and development in the Kumawu area, particularly through the transformative Free Senior High School (SHS) initiative.
Speaking during a reception for Dr. Bawumia, who is touring the Ashanti Region, the paramount chief described the Free SHS policy as a monumental achievement that has positively impacted every household in Kumawu.
The traditional ruler highlighted that the initiative has made education accessible to all children in the region, relieving parents of significant financial burdens.
“Thanks to Free SHS and the school feeding program, all parents need to do is provide a few items for their children,” the chief remarked.
Barima Sarpong Tweneboa Kodua further praised the NPP government for enhancing local infrastructure and creating job opportunities.
He pointed to projects such as a 120-bed hospital, a National Service Scheme project in Sekyere Afram Plains, and the construction of a modern district assembly complex as evidence of the government’s dedication to community development.
In addition, the chief acknowledged efforts to improve local roads through the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) and applauded the swift provision of two pickup vehicles by Dr. Bawumia to enhance local security following his request.
Expressing support for Dr. Bawumia’s anticipated presidential bid, the Kumawumanhene urged the Vice President to remain committed to spreading his message, assuring him of the unwavering support of Kumawu.
The chief also appealed for the elevation of Kumawu to a municipal assembly to boost local governance and development.
“The people of Kumawu and Ghana will reward the NPP for their excellent work at the polls,” the chief assured.
