KT Hammond slams Mahama’s ’24-hour economy’, rallies support for Bawumia

Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, KT Hammond, has taken aim at former President John Dramani Mahama’s record, describing his leadership as riddled with scandals and failed policies, including the much-discussed “24-hour economy.”

Speaking at a mini rally in Adansi Asokwa during Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s visit on Friday (15 November), KT Hammond called on residents to reject Mr Mahama’s comeback bid and instead rally behind Dr Bawumia for progress and development.

He accused the NDC flagbearer of mismanagement during his tenure, referencing controversies such as the infamous “guinea fowls that flew to Burkina Faso.”

The lawmaker argued that Mahama’s “24-hour economy” policy lacked clarity, mocking an attempt by a local MP in the Atebubu area to explain it by comparing it to footballers playing in batches.

Mr Hammond, who is currently Ghana’s Trade and Industry Minister believes such policies highlighted Mahama’s alleged incompetence.

“Mahama failed woefully, and we voted him out for good reason. He has yet to respond to many scandals. His 24-hour economy policy cannot even be explained, and when they tried, it became more confusing,” Hammond remarked.

He lauded Vice President Bawumia, describing him as “a gift from God” and the leader capable of driving development in Adansi Asokwa and beyond. The lawmaker urged voters to reject Mahama’s leadership and give their support to Bawumia in the upcoming elections.

Dr Bawumia is in the Ashanti Region canvassing for votes as the governing party seeks to retain power. His ‘Possibilities Bus’ has so far connected with over 200 constituencies across the country.
