John Mahama votes in Bole, assures supporters of victory

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has arrived in Bole, his hometown in the Savannah Region, to vote, expressing confidence in securing victory in the ongoing presidential election.

Speaking to the media after voting, Mahama said the process has been smooth and very easy so far.

“It didn’t take more than three minutes for me to finish voting in both the presidential and parliamentary.”

He called on Ghanaians to turn out in large numbers to exercise their civic duty and ensure a peaceful voting process.

“If it’s the same everywhere in the country, then I think we will have a successful election. This is one election that almost everybody can see what the results is going to be; other elections have been not as obvious but with this one everybody can tell the direction which it’s going and that’s because of the abysmal performance of Bawumia and Akufo-Addo.”

“I am confident that Ghanaians will give me the opportunity to serve again. I trust in the democratic process and believe in the choice of the people,” he stated.

Father’s grave

Before going to the Bole D/A polling station to cast his ballot, the former president stopped by his family home and said prayers at his father’s grave. He was surrounded by family and many well-wishers who had gathered in anticipation of his arrival.

“This is part of our culture and tradition, and many of these are my uncles. They believe that at every opportunity, if you are faced with a crisis or you are anxious about something, you must pray to your father and your ancestors. These are prayers being said for my father.”

“This is my father’s grave. And so the same prayers for him, and asking him to stand behind me in the contest that we are going into today.”
