AnimaxFYB Studios’ critically acclaimed animated short film Jabari will make its highly anticipated premiere on Wednesday (11 December) at the British Council in Accra at 6 PM.
This 90-minute 3D animation tells the gripping tale of Jabari, an orphan raised by the enigmatic Hem-Netjer. Steeped in ancient wisdom, knowledge, and sorcery, Jabari transforms into a formidable warrior.
However, his world shifts when he uncovers the dark secrets surrounding his birth and his parents’ tragic demise.
Determined to uncover the truth about his destiny, Jabari embarks on a perilous journey, battling mystical giants summoned from the depths of hell.
Directed and produced by Francis Y. Brown, the founder of AnimaxFYB Studios, alongside Dante Kaba, the film boasts a screenplay crafted by Prince Moses Ofori-Atta and Akosua Hanson.
The stellar cast includes voice acting by Osei Kwame and Andrew Tandoh Adote, complemented by a soundtrack featuring music from celebrated Ghanaian artist M.anifest.
Jabari has already made waves in the film industry, clinching the Best Animation award at the 19th African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) held on 29 October 2023 at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.
The short film has also been selected for prestigious platforms such as the 31st New York African Film Festival (NYAFF) and the 2024 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), among others.
The premiere event will include a panel discussion featuring some of Ghana’s most prominent creative minds.
The line-up includes director Francis Y. Brown, voice actor Andrew Tandoh Adote, filmmaker Kuukua Eshun, writer Akosua Hanson, sound engineer Tito Gomez, and journalist Kwame Dadzie, who will share insights into the creative process and the significance of animated storytelling in Africa.
