I pledge to serve selflessly- Bawumia

At a recent youth-centred event in Accra, dubbed “Bawumia for Jobs,” the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, delivered a powerful message to young voters ahead of the December elections.

Speaking directly to Ghana’s youth, he urged them to participate actively in the democratic process, emphasizing the need for a leader who could secure a prosperous future for the next generation.

“I know some of you may not be too eager to vote. I don’t blame you if you’ve bought into the view that all politicians are the same,” Bawumia remarked. “But that’s not so,” he stressed, encouraging the audience to reconsider any disillusionment they might feel. His message was clear: not all leaders are the same, and voters should not let cynicism deter them from making a difference at the ballot box.

Dr. Bawumia’s call to action centered on his vision of leadership and his pledge to serve Ghanaians responsibly. “You can trust me to protect the public purse and to use it selflessly to serve you,” he assured, adding that he would work tirelessly to ensure transparency and accountability in governance. “To the young voters of Ghana, I ask you, do not switch off. I ask you to get involved,” he said, appealing to young Ghanaians to stay engaged in the political process rather than losing hope.

Highlighting the importance of the upcoming election, Bawumia emphasized that December’s vote was about more than just politics—it was about the future of Ghana’s youth. “December is about you; it’s about who can deliver for you and your future, whom you trust, who has the integrity, the vision, the energy, and competency,” he stated. His speech touched on the qualities he believes are crucial for a leader in today’s rapidly evolving world. He also called on young voters to make “an informed choice,” reflecting on how leadership decisions today could shape the country’s place in the global landscape.
