Ghana to get a Mining Bank – Bawumia

Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has promised the people of Jirapa that he will establish a mining development bank when he assumes office as President.

He is of the view that even though the country has been involved in mining over the years, the nation has not benefited from it enough hence the need to establish a mining bank.

Dr Mahamudu Bawuma believes that the mining bank will be used to resource and boost the sector.

His post shared on Facebook said “Although mining activities have taken place for decades in Ghana, the nation has not benefited as much as it should”.

Adding that “At various engagements with Chiefs, the youth and stakeholders in the Jirapa, Sissala East and West Constituencies, I explained my new mining policies, including the establishment of a Mining Development Bank, resourcing the Geological Survey Department to undertake major exploration, ensuring 100% Ghanaian ownership of proven reserves earmarked for small-scale mining, establishment of plant pools in mining areas to promote shared user facilities, decentralizing the mining lincensing regime to all mining districts, and promotion of licenced community mining schemes to create more jobs and wealthy Ghanaians.
