Galamsey Chemicals can cause impotency, deformed babies –  Renowned Pathologist

Professor Paul Poku Sampene Ossei, a Consultant Histo- and Forensic Pathologist has shockingly revealed that the chemicals used for these galamsey activities can affect the sperms of men which can lead to impotency.

According to the renowned Pathologist who was interviewed on Joy FM’s News Analysis Programme  NewsFile on Joy News, the heavy metals that are used during the galamsey have an irreversible effect on the human body. He mentioned that if activities are not halted, mothers will keep giving birth to children with all forms of deformities.

“These irresponsible mining allow these heavy metals into our water bodies and the effect is seen in humans as well. These heavy metals that have made their way into our bodies and bloodstreams have caused irreversible damage or irreversible issues to the body. Mothers will keep giving birth to children with all forms of deformities”. He disclosed

He emphasized that aside from mothers giving birth to deformed babies, other side effects of these heavy metals in the body include damage to the kidneys, livers, production system and even the sperm of men.

“If you are a man, your sperm would be affected because these heavy metals find their way to the very thing that causes us to reproduce. Also, women’s ovaries would be affected as well”, he added.

Professor Paul Poku Sampene revealed he has conducted research and taken samples of deformed babies in 5 regions; Western Region, Western North, Central Region, Eastern Region and Ashanti Region and concluded that mothers who have given birth to deformed babies are the result of these heavy metals in the water bodies.
