Frederick Assor to begin Ghana’s Paralympic campaign in Paris

Ghanaian paracyclist Frederick Assor is set to commence his and Ghana’s journey at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games on Thursday (29 August).
The 39-year-old will compete in the qualifying round of the Men’s B 4000m Individual Pursuit at the Vélodrome National in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, France.
Assor will face Australia’s Kane Perris in Heat One of the event.
This marks Assor’s second appearance at the Paralympic Games, following his debut at Tokyo 2020, where he finished tenth in the same event.
To secure a place in the medal contention this year, Assor along with his pilot Rudolf Mensah will need to deliver a significant improvement on his previous performance.
Only the top four fastest times in the qualifying round will advance to the medal rounds.
Assor’s most notable international achievement to date is a sixth-place finish in the Men’s Tandem B – Sprint at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in London.
Ghana’s hopes will be pinned on Assor as he aims to make history in Paris.
