Former Hearts of Oak defender Raddy Ovouka tips Gilbalni O’Neil Ndongani Samba to excel with Asante Kotoko

Former Hearts of Oak defender, Raddy Ovouka is backing his compatriot Gilbalni O’Neil Ndongani Samba to excel with Asante Kotoko after securing a move to the club.

The Congolese defender completed his move to the Porcupine Warriors last week, signing a three-year deal with the club.

He is expected to play a huge role for the Ghanaian giants, who endured a torrid time in the recently concluded Ghana Premier League campaign.

Speaking to Ghanasportspage, Ovouka, who won the Ghana Premier League with Hearts of Oak acknowledged Samba O’Neil’s qualities whiles tipping him to flourish.

“The Ghana Premier League is too easy for him because I know him well. He is very calm, not lazy and a very good player. He can also play as a midfielder (a number 6). He demonstrated that in Burkina Faso and he can help Kotoko in defense as central defender,” said the former GPL winner.

He added: “He was born in Congo and started his career there. We started playing together. He is a very tall guy and a very good player.

“I trust my brother and my friend because I have known him for a very long time. I know what he can do at the back. Let’s see what happens against Hearts of Oak on Wednesday. He is ready to play this game. He is always ready for every game not for Heart of Oak only.”

The highly-rated defender has already commenced training with Asante Kotoko as the team gear up for the Democracy Cup on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

Ndongani becomes the fourth signing of Asante Kotoko in the off-season, joining new recruits Emmanuel Antwi, Esmat Hassabalbagi, and Yoouef Yagoub.
