EC is the most embarrassing institution in Ghana  – Abraham Amaliba

The Director of Conflict Resolution of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba has described the Electoral Commission(EC) as an embarrassing institution in Ghana for rejecting the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) request for voters’ register forensic audit.

During an interview on TV3’s NewDay, the private legal practitioner stated that if Ghana is a serious country, the Electoral Commission would have been written off for rejecting the audit of the voters’ register.

“Which election body in this world has disenfranchised people to the extent that they don’t have a representation in parliament? Are you ashamed of yourself? You claim you are the best institution.” He lashed out.

Abraham Amaliba emphasized that the Electoral Commission is not an institution one can trust adding that the NDC will pick their people for the coming elections and would not allow the EC to give the party representatives.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) requested a forensic audit of the voters’ register, but the Electoral Commission (EC) rejected their request.

Dr. Omane Boamah, the NDC’s Director of Elections, made the rejection public on Friday after an urgent meeting with the EC in Accra.

The meeting was convened by the NDC after the party identified what it described as widespread discrepancies in the register during the recent exhibition exercise.
