Drive to Inspire Africa (DTI-A), a non-governmental organization (NGO), has trained over 100 counsellors in the Greater Accra Region, equipping them with relevant skills to assist the youth.

The training is part of DTI-A’s efforts to empower young adults and help them navigate the challenges associated with their growth. It also forms part of Drive to Inspire Africa’s overreaching mission of providing effective support and guidance to young people.

According to Nana Adjoa Hackman, founder of Drive to Inspire Africa, “Innovative training programmes are crucial in addressing the unique challenges faced by young people today and that “the goal of the training is to ensure that young adults have access to the resources and support they need to reach their full potential.”

“Counsellors have the power to shape the minds and futures of our young people and need to take this responsibility seriously and to continue seeking knowledge and skills to enhance the work,” Nana Adjoa Hackman emphasized.

The training programme, which was well-received by participants, covered a range of topics, including mental health and career development.

The training was divided into three sessions. The first session featured Nana Adjoa Hackman, who spoke on the topic “Addressing the Needs of Students; Managing Adolescent Life, Overcoming Fear of Failure in Life and Education, and Tackling Discipline.”

This was followed by a panel discussion with Karrielle Danso and other panellists. The second session, featured Dr Setordzie and Mr Kafui Ntow, who focused on “Understanding Mental Health and Career Guidance Strategies”.

The third session, was on “Financial Literacy for Counsellors and Volunteers.” The session was led by a team from the United Bank for Africa (UBA).

With the training of these counsellors, Drive to Inspire is poised to make an even greater impact in the lives of young people not only in Ghana but across the African continent.
