CAF Champions League: Samartex well prepared for Victoria United clash - Forward Mohammed Mankuyeli Alhassan

Samartex attacker Mohammed Alhassan Mankuyeli says his outfit are well prepared for their game against Victoria United in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

The Timber giants are set for their maiden participation in the CAF elite competition after emerging as champions in the recently concluded Ghana Premier League season, dethroning Medeama.

Samartex will travel to face Victoria United in Cameroon on August 18 before the return fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 25, 2024.

At the weekend, the Ghana champions engaged ASKO de Kara from Togo in a friendly game and played out a pulsating goalless draw at the Stade De Kegue.

The 23-year-old, who recently joined Samartex from Real Tamale United has highlighted the importance of the friendly and affirmed his sides’ preparedness for the Victoria United showdown.

“It was really an important game for us. We needed that test and you could see that there is a lot of work ahead of us. Going into the Champions League, I will say it isn’t an easy task but with this test against ASKO de Kara, I think we are well prepared for Victoria United”

Samartex are aiming to make a mark in their maiden CAF Champions League campaign. The winner of the tie between the Ghanaian outfit and Victoria United will progress to the second preliminary round where they potentially face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a place in the group stages.
