Kofi Tonto, a political aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Mahamudu Bawumia, has described the vice president’s recent manifesto launch as a moment of nationwide excitement and renewed confidence within the party.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show (ABS) on Tuesday (20 August), Tonto identified the energy of Bawumia’s 18 August speech in Takoradi as the catalyst for the reviving spirit within the NPP.
He highlighted the speech as a reminder of Bawumia’s strength as a candidate with a clear and compelling message.
“The speech from Sunday (18 August) was a reiteration of that feeling, that moment, that unifying spirit, that indeed we still have in him—a solid candidate with a solid message,” Tonto said.
“Across the country, party faithful are very excited that our party is going into the 2024 election with a clear message for the good people of this republic.”
Tonto also praised the Bawumia campaign for its strategic approach, particularly in its messaging.
“If you look at the structure of our campaign and even our messaging, you see that they are well thought through. Take the messaging; for example, his excellency comes in, admits the challenges confronting the nation, tells us the three key areas Ghanaians are deeply concerned about—address those three areas, the things that he’s going to do to ameliorate those challenges and then proceeds to offer more of his vision for the nation.”
