Bawumia pledges Municipal status for Kumawu, announces plans for nursing training college

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured the people of Kumawu that the town will be elevated to municipal status under his presidency.

This promise is part of his broader agenda to deepen decentralization and drive development across to the area.

The announcement came in response to a request by the Chief of Kumawu, Barima Tweneboa Kodua, who hosted Dr. Bawumia during a campaign visit on Sunday (17 November).

“I will be the President who is going to give Kumawu a municipal status. You have made a strong case for that, and I want to assure you that it will happen under my presidency by the grace of God,” Dr. Bawumia said.

He explained that the move would ensure better governance, enhanced public service delivery, and improved infrastructure for the area.

Dr. Bawumia also revealed plans to establish a nursing training college in Kumawu, noting that the project has already been approved.

“I know the establishment of a nursing training college is dear to you. I am happy to announce that the nursing training college has been approved. For the accreditation, we will ensure it is expedited for the project to take off,” he assured.

The announcement was warmly received by residents and traditional leaders, who expressed optimism about the transformative impact of the proposed initiatives.

Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed his dedication to fulfilling his promises, emphasizing the critical role of education and governance reforms in fostering a prosperous Ghana.

He took the opportunity to officially commission the newly constructed multipurpose district assembly office.
