Ghana’s national men’s football team, the Black Stars, have called up Michael Baidoo, Abu Francis, Jonas Adjetey, and Ibrahim Sadiq for their pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
These players have been brought in to replace key team members, including Thomas Partey, Joseph Paintsil, Kingsley Schindler, and Ibrahim Osman, who were all sidelined due to injury.
The quartet will join the rest of the squad in Accra ahead of the Group F clashes, scheduled for Thursday (10 October) and Tuesday (15 October).
Player Profiles
Michael Baidoo, 25, plies his trade at IF Elfsborg in Sweden’s top division. Starting his career at Vision FC in Ghana, Baidoo moved on to Denmark’s FC Midtjylland before stints at Fredericia, Jerv, and Sandnes Ulf.
The midfielder has been a consistent performer for Elfsborg in both the Swedish Allsvenskan and the UEFA Europa League.
Abu Francis, a product of the Right to Dream Academy, currently plays for Cercle Brugge in Belgium.
Having made his Black Stars debut in a friendly against Uganda in March, Francis has been a regular figure in Ghana’s squad. He featured in the recent AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Jonas Adjetey, 20, has been making waves in the Swiss Super League with FC Basel.
The young defender, previously with Teshie Football Academy, Accra Great Olympics, and Berekum Chelsea, is seen as a rising talent, having recently replaced Alexander Djiku in the national squad.
Ibrahim Sadiq, a former Right to Dream Academy graduate, now plays for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
The midfielder also spent time at FC Nordsjaelland and is tipped to make an impact for the Black Stars.
These matches against Sudan are critical for Ghana’s AFCON 2025 qualification hopes as they look to secure top spot in Group F.
