A 16-year-old student, Dennis Owusu Ansah, has died after being stabbed to death at Ahinsan, in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Three teenage girls aged between 14 and 16 are in police custody as the Asokwa District Command is not ruling a case of murder describing the cause of death as “unnatural”.
The incident occurred Monday (4 November) night, around 9 p.m., following a misunderstanding between the deceased and one of the girls. They were reportedly escorting a friend home when the argument escalated, and one of them allegedly pulled out a knife, stabbing Dennis in the rib and causing severe bleeding.
He was quickly rushed to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Dennis, aka Nana Yaw was an old student of the Oforikrom M/A JHS and was set to begin high school on Thursday (7 November). The victim’s family is devastated, with his mother and brother expressing their deep grief and shock over the loss. They are demanding justice and urging authorities to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
“We went to Tweneboa Kodua (SHS) on Saturday, and we were told to report on Thursday. So, I beg the child has indeed passed, so please authorities should ensure that justice is served,” said Stella Frimpong, Dennis’s grieving mother.
“What we, the family, require is that the government assist and ensure that justice is served because you can’t kill a boy just like that. For a child of 15 years, you can’t just stab someone’s child… I am surprised a child of her age could do such a thing.”
Meanwhile parents of the teenage girls had been invited by the police for questioning at the time of filing this report.
