Ashanti GMA demands justice after terrifying attack on Regional Chairman’s residence

The Ashanti Regional Division of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has strongly condemned what it describes as a “terrifying attack” on the residence of its divisional chairman, Dr. (Med) Paa Kwesi Baidoo, in Kumasi.

In a statement signed by Dr. Bernard Hammond and Brefo Agyen Frimpong, the GMA expressed outrage over the incident, which occurred around 7 p.m. on Wednesday (18 December). Unknown individuals reportedly entered the premises and felled a large tree, causing it to crash onto the roof of the house.

The impact trapped Dr. Baidoo’s wife and their 2-year-old child inside the building, damaging the roof and personal belongings. Despite their shouts for help, the assailants fled the scene, leaving the family in distress.

The statement noted that passersby eventually assisted in rescuing the traumatized mother and child. Dr. Baidoo, who was at work at the time, rushed home upon receiving a call about the incident.

A formal report has been filed with the Ashanti Regional Police Command, and investigations are ongoing.

The GMA is demanding swift action, including the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators. Additionally, the association is calling for compensation for Dr. Baidoo’s family to cover the damages incurred during the attack.

The incident has sparked concerns about the safety of medical professionals and their families, with the GMA urging authorities to ensure justice is served.
