Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum reveals how he scouts for new players

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum has shared his approach to scouting players for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Ogum revealed that he personally follows the league to identify potential players and also relies on a network of scouts to find players that fit his football philosophy.

The Porcupine Warriors, who had a disappointing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, have already parted ways with around 18 players and made several new signings.

The Kumasi-based club is now preparing for the new season, aiming to improve their performance.

"As coach when it comes to trying to scout you engage a lot of people and locally I have been watching the league apart from our own matches. I have been watching other matches just to have a fair idea of most of these players so that when it comes to scouting I will be able to identify those I think that fit into the way I think and feel and believe in what we call the football philosophy," he told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com

"So I have been following our league to watch some of these guys in addition too I have colleagues or I have scouts monitoring the league they also do this for me they try as much as possible to pencil players they think that fall within my way of thinking in my philosophy of play. What happens is that at the end of the day we try to come together what i have and what they also have and then we try to see,"
