A peaceful yet impassioned demonstration erupted on the streets of Anloga as locals rallied for justice following the tragic death of Dorcas Korkor Tettey, a 54-year-old chop bar operator who was killed in an alleged robbery on 28 December 2024.
Youth groups, chiefs, queen mothers, and opinion leaders dressed in solemn black and red marched through the town’s principal street, holding placards with bold inscriptions demanding accountability.
Chants filled the air as they invoked the wrath of gods on the unknown assailants and called for an immediate end to violence in the area.
The protest was sparked by the death of Tettey, affectionately known in the community as the owner of “The Base” chop bar.
According to reports, she was attacked and killed in her bedroom attached to her restaurant shortly after returning from a church service in Kportorgboe. Signs at the scene reportedly suggested a robbery attempt.
During the demonstration, youth leader Silas Aidam delivered a petition on behalf of the aggrieved youth to the local police.
The petition, signed by Togbi Zewu IV, the Dufia of Anloga, urged law enforcement to prioritise the investigation into Tettey’s death.
“We, the youth of Anloga, are demanding that a thorough and impartial investigation be launched to bring the culprits to book to face the full vigorous of the law,” Aidam declared.
He described the deceased as a generous and caring woman who had touched many lives in the community.
“The police should ensure the family [and] loved ones of Madam Dorcas Korkor Tettey are protected and supported in any way they deserve.”
Residents speaking to Asaase News say the incident has plunged the town into a state of fear, with many now concerned for their safety.
The police, who maintained a visible presence during the protest, received the petition and assured the demonstrators of their commitment to justice.
While investigations have begun, no arrests have been made so far. Authorities have urged calm, promising to ensure the safety of the Tettey family and the broader community.
The death of Dorcas Korkor Tettey has united the people of Anloga in grief and resolve. Their message is clear: justice must be served, and the perpetrators must face the full force of the law.
