Speaking at the 50-years celebration of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the launch of the Arab-Africa Financial Consortium in Accra on Sunday (21 July), Aldossari commended President Akufo Addo for his support and hosting BADEA’s anniversary launch in Accra.
“The ambitious sustainable development agenda calls for a central role for the private sector, and I am pleased to see many of our key partners from the private sector here today,” Aldossari said.
“And over the past four years, BADEA’s commitment to private sector and trade has amounted to US$5 billion, BADEA has not only evolved to meet expectations of the continent and our shareholders but also demonstrated agility and responsiveness to meet development challenges from COVID -19 response….”
He added, “Today is also a special day, as we feel honoured and grateful to President Akufo-Addo of Ghana and AU champion of financial institutions who not only welcomed BADEA’s anniversary and hosted it in the beautiful city of Accra but also elevated the partnership of financial institutions.”
BADEA is a financial institution owned by 18 Arab countries members of the League of Arab States (LAS), which signed its establishing agreement on 18 February 1974.
