Akufo-Addo to Trump: Ghana is ready to work with your administration

President Akufo-Addo congratulated Donald Trump on his election as President of the United States.

Victory in Wisconsin after earlier triumphs in Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania saw the former president clear the threshold of the 270 Electoral College votes required to clinch the White House in Tuesday’s election.

In a statement on Wednesday (6 November), Akufo-Addo said Ghana stands ready to work alongside Donald Trump and his administration.

“Warm congratulations to you on your remarkable victory in the U.S. presidential election, becoming the 47th President of the United States of America. This achievement speaks volumes about the confidence the American people have placed in you and your vision for their future.

“The friendship between Ghana and the United States has deep roots, built on mutual respect, shared values and a commitment to democracy and freedom. I am hopeful that, under your leadership, this bond will grow even stronger, paving the way for collaboration in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges, as we did during your first mandate. Together, we can continue to promote peace, prosperity and the dignity of all peoples.”

“As you step into this role, know that Ghana stands ready to work alongside you and your administration. We look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead to strengthen our ties and advance the well-being of our peoples. Congratulations once again, and my very best wishes as you and your family embark on this journey,” the statement said.
