Accra Lions midfielder Shawkan Mohammed goes AWOL, club reports him to Player Status Committee

Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions are struggling to find the whereabouts of their midfielder Shawkan Mohammed, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the club Nana Obiri Yeboah has disclosed.However, the club has reported midfielder to the Player Status Committee to seek redress as efforts to reach him has proved futile.Speaking to Oyerepa FM, Nana Obiri Yeboah insisted the enterprising midfielder is not a free agent amid interest from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.According to him, the club exercised the unilateral option to extend the contract of the player for further 12 months."Shawkan Mohammed is not a free agent. He's still a player of Accra Lions. We had the unilateral option to prolong his contract for a further 12 months and we have exercised that option and have duly communicated to the player."The player has packed his belongings from the club house and has failed to answer our calls so we have reported the matter to the Player Status Committee to seek redress" he said.Shawkan is a huge transfer target for Ghana giants Asante Kotoko as they seek to secure his services ahead of the new season.

However, the club has reported midfielder to the Player Status Committee to seek redress as efforts to reach him has proved futile.

Speaking to Oyerepa FM, Nana Obiri Yeboah insisted the enterprising midfielder is not a free agent amid interest from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.

According to him, the club exercised the unilateral option to extend the contract of the player for further 12 months.

"Shawkan Mohammed is not a free agent. He's still a player of Accra Lions. We had the unilateral option to prolong his contract for a further 12 months and we have exercised that option and have duly communicated to the player.

"The player has packed his belongings from the club house and has failed to answer our calls so we have reported the matter to the Player Status Committee to seek redress" he said.
