A man identified as Quaicoo, widely known as Oboy, has been fingered by Deputy Minister Ekow Vincent Assafuah as the potential mastermind behind the devastating blaze.

The Deputy Minister, speaking passionately on Asempa FM, suggested the act was not random but deeply political, fueled by tensions from the just-ended general elections.

“Anybody who knows Kantamanto will tell you that these are people who live as one community,” Mr. Assafuah remarked, lamenting how the market’s unity had been disrupted.

He revealed that Quaicoo, a polling agent for the opposition NDC, had recently fallen on hard times following a divorce that left him financially dependent on market associates.

“But due to politicking…” he added, leaving the implications to simmer.

Eyewitness accounts further stirred the pot. “A woman at Kantamanto told me that on Wednesday around 11 p.m., she saw this man passing by, and not long after, the market was in flames,” Mr. Assafuah disclosed.
