Enraged supporters hurled plastic bottles and other objects onto the field, with some going on to vandalize the pitch panels at the stadium.Despite efforts by the police, who managed to apprehend one individual, the damage to the stadium had already been done.This incident marks yet another case of fan misconduct in high-stakes matches involving the Black Stars, raising the likelihood of sanctions from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).Ghana has a history of being fined for such disturbances, with the most recent penalty being a $15,000 fine in January 2024, when fans breached security during an AFCON match against Cape Verde.In 2019, Ghana was similarly fined $10,000 after a fan invaded the pitch during a qualifier against South Africa. With this latest incident, more disciplinary action from CAF seems imminent.
