Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi embarked on a strategic visit to Kintampo South on November 26, rallying support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the 2024 general elections draw closer.
The former Minister of Education under John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration addressed a gathering of enthusiastic party supporters at a local Presbyterian Church, urging them to solidify their loyalty to the party and its vision for Ghana.
In his address, Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi passionately appealed to constituents to vote in overwhelming numbers for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He framed this act as a way of showing gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his leadership and dedication to the nation over the past two terms.
“President Akufo-Addo has worked tirelessly for the betterment of Ghana, and it is only fitting that we show our appreciation by supporting Dr. Bawumia to continue the good work,” Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi stated, his voice filled with conviction.
“This is a critical moment for our party. Let us not only focus on the presidency but also work hard to secure more parliamentary seats to strengthen our governance.”
Ameyaw-Akumfi expressed particular concern over the party’s inability to reclaim parliamentary seats lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region.
“We must address this gap and ensure that the NPP has the majority it needs to deliver on its promises,” he urged.
The visit was marked by a display of party unity, as Ameyaw-Akumfi was joined by several high-profile NPP members.
His delegation included Bono East Regional Minister Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan, former Bono East Regional Minister Kofi Amoakohene, former Bono East Regional Chairman Thomas Adu Appiah, former Bono Ahafo Deputy Regional Minister Hon. Adjei Duffour, and former Techiman North DCE Hon. Peter Mensah. Their presence underscored the significance of the campaign efforts in Kintampo South and the broader Bono East Region.
