You used him to tackle me – Portable mocks Olamide after Asake allegedly parts ways with YBNL

In a viral video making waves on X (formerly Twitter), Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has taken a swipe at his former mentor, Olamide, following rumors that his protégé, Asake, has parted ways with YBNL.

Portable claimed that Olamide used Asake to undermine him in the music industry and questioned his loyalty to the people who helped him rise to fame.

“You used Asake to tackle me in the industry. You wanted to cancel me, so I ran to Sango. From Sango, I toured the world. Now look at the person you lifted above me—he has dumped you without even saying thank you,” Portable expressed in the video.

The outburst from Portable isn’t new. Over the years, Portable has made a name for himself with his brash and unapologetic demeanour, often engaging in public spats with his fellow artists.

His latest comments on Olamide stem from the ongoing developments around Asake’s departure from YBNL, the label that brought him into the limelight.

Asake’s departure has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian music scene, especially considering his rapid rise to fame with hit songs like “Sungba” and “Palazzo”.

Portable’s comments suggest that the singer feels betrayed, believing that Olamide’s actions may have contributed to Asake’s eventual split.

“You took away my producer, my promoter, Kogbagidi, and my dancer,” Portable added, claiming that Olamide’s influence played a role in changing his career trajectory.

But Portable’s grievances don’t stop there. He went on to thank Olamide for helping him with a verse on the hit track “Zazzu”, but also accused the YBNL boss of copying his style.

“I started the trend of wearing big shoes and oversized clothes, but you told Asake to copy it,” Portable said, referring to his unique fashion style, which has since been adopted by other artists, including Asake.

Portable’s criticisms didn’t spare other prominent Nigerian musicians either. He mocked Davido, claiming that the Afrobeats star had hijacked his influence in the crypto space, which he claims to have pioneered.

“I was the influencer for crypto and bitcoin, but you hijacked it from me and still claim to be a rich man,” Portable remarked, throwing shade at the artist for allegedly taking credit for trends he believes he started.
