Use the debate to expose Bawumia’s incompetence you’ve been preaching – Afenyo to Mahama

Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has told former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama that the only way to ascertain if Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has failed is when he agrees to debate him.

To him, the country cannot deal with the rhetoric.

He believes that the debate will offer the former President the opportunity to expose the failures of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and also make the people of Ghana aware if he is the right person to lead them or not.

“Dr Bawumia is ready to put the cards on the table. If he says that we have not performed as a government, it is only through a debate that he can put the point across. We don’t believe in rhetoric. If Dr Bawumia has underperformed, expose him through a debate. If Dr Bawumia is not competent I think that the best way to expose that is through debate.

So we are ready and I am saying that to stay away from the attacks and ensure decency in our politics is through debate. Ghanaians want a change in their lives, they want development, they want employment; and the only way to bring the best out of us as the political class is to debate the issues. Mr Mahama should not run away from the debate,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia has disclosed that their flagbearer has been advised not to accept any debate going into the 2024 elections.

He believes that the current government and their flagbearer should rather pick the issues and debate themselves after failing the people of Ghana.
