Posters on DRIP equipment won’t be removed; NPP is in power – NDC told

A petition by the leadership and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savannah Region to the Savannah Regional Minister to get the New Patriotic Party(NPP) to remove campaign posters on vehicles and equipment procured under the  District Roads Improvement Project (DRIP) of the Government has been roundly rejected by the Minister.

The Savannah Regional Minister Saeed Muhazu Jibril, in rejecting the appeal by the NDC, explained that the NPP was merely copying what the NDC did in the past when they( NDC) allegedly branded buses and laptops in NDC colours.

DRIP earthmoving vehicles and equipment have had campaign messages of the NPP flagbearer and those NPP parliamentary candidates posted on them to the dissatisfaction of the NDC.

But the Minister stressed that once the machines have been bought under the NPP Government, the posters will not be removed, daring the NDC to carry out its threat of equally posting its posters on them.

The Savannah Regional Secretary of the NPP, Mohammed Issah, warned that there will be bloodshed if the NDC attempts to have their posters on the DRIP machines.

“We are daring the NDC to carry out their empty threat of putting NDC posters on any of the equipment and we shall see who owns the equipment. That is where you will see limbs flying in the air, trust me,”  Mr Issah noted.

The Savannah Regional NDC presented its petition to the minister on Monday. It remains to be seen what will happen if the three-day ultimatum given to the NPP expires.
