The Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has launched a stinging critique of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over their consistent opposition to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) digitalization initiatives.

Speaking during an interview with Kwame Adinkra on Pure FM in Kumasi monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Ursula accused the NDC of lacking a fundamental understanding of the importance of digitalization in Ghana’s development.

“The NDC doesn’t understand what digitalization truly means, and that explains their strong opposition to it,” she remarked.

According to Ursula, the NDC’s rejection of key initiatives such as the digital address system and the Ghana Card demonstrates a lack of foresight.

“We’ve seen their track record. They opposed the Ghana Card, which is now a critical tool in combating fraud and improving service delivery.

They fought against the digital address system. What future do they see for this country without embracing digitalization?” she questioned.

Ursula also highlighted what she described as the NDC’s misguided focus on traditional methods, criticizing their recent proposal to establish a dedicated TV station for the creative arts sector.

“In a world where streaming platforms dominate and provide unlimited opportunities for creatives, why propose a TV station? It shows how out of touch they are,” she said, shaking her head.

In contrast, Ursula revealed that the NPP is developing a streaming app aimed at offering Ghanaian creatives access to global audiences.

“We are building a platform that competes on the world stage. It’s not about propaganda; it’s about creating real opportunities for our people,” she declared.

The Communications Minister expressed her frustration with the NDC’s willingness to abandon progressive initiatives if given the chance.

“They’ve shown us they’re willing to undermine everything we’ve built. That’s why the NPP will not hand over the reins of government to them. We are committed to taking Ghana forward, not backward,” Ursula said emphatically.
